You want to look your best on your wedding day! But, if you are traveling for your wedding, it can be tricky to keep wrinkles to a minimum. Keep reading for some packing tips to help you dress to impress!

Pick the Right Fabric

If you plan on getting married in a warmer destination, then you’ll want to wear a cotton or linen suit. Cotton suits are a great option, as they’re breathable and have a casual style. However, due to the lightness of the material, wrinkling may happen. Linen suits have the same casual style as cotton suits but can crease a bit easier since the material is lighter. Make sure your wedding hotel can press or steam your wedding attire for you.

Appropriate Luggage

Pack your suit in a large piece of luggage or a garment bag. Doing so will allow you to hang your jacket and pants on a hanger to minimize creasing, which no one wants!

Folding Technique

Even if you’re a carry-on kind of guy, you can always fold your wedding suit carefully in your luggage. Turn the jacket inside out and pop the shoulders out first. Then, fold the jacket in half lengthwise, and fold it again the other way. This process should prevent compression on the shoulder area, as well as creasing and wrinkles.

When You Arrive

Once you arrive at your destination wedding location, you’ll want to remove your suit jacket and pants immediately, hold them upright, and gently shake out. Pat down the sleeves, jacket back, and pant legs to work out the larger wrinkles, and then drape it over a hanger in the closet.

Packing the Accessories

For your other groom accessories, you’ll want to pack smaller items like your cuff links and tie bars in a zippered pocket or small container. Socks can be rolled up and packed inside your dress shoes, which can save you some extra space. Your tie can be rolled loosely and packed into a smaller box to avoid creasing.
