If you thought the bride took care of all the planning, then think again. Here are 7 things a groom should prepare before the big day.

Find Your Suit

Once the color scheme is nailed down, it’s time to start looking for the suits. Decide if purchasing or renting is a better option for your bridal party, along with the color and style that will flatter all your guys. Choose a comfortable option and perhaps a lighter material so it’s easy to move around in. If you’re lucky, your bride might want to come along to help make those final decisions.

Pair it With Accessories

The bride should be able to assist you with the tie, vest, and pocket square colors so they complement the bridesmaids and overall color palette.  But, just like the bride, the groom should stand out! Don’t be afraid to wear a bow tie while the groomsmen wear ties or try a different color accessory that will pop in your wedding pictures.

Purchase Groomsmen Gifts

Give your buddies a proper thank you with a thoughtful gift at the rehearsal dinner or welcome party. Some ideas include personalized cocktail glasses, flasks, cigars, socks, a watch, and things of that nature. Destination wedding couples often like to gift things the bridal party can do on the trip, like an excursion, a local rum tasting, a golf outing, etc.

Take Care of Yourself

The groom should look and feel their best on his wedding day. Be sure you’re eating well and exercising regularly so you look great in that spiffy new suit. You’ll also need to fit in a haircut before the wedding, so plan that in advance so you don’t have that ‘just shorn’ look on your wedding day. A couple’s massage or facial as a lovely way to pamper yourself before the big day!

Practice Your First Dance

Have two left feet? Then, allow yourself enough time to practice your first dance! Some couples attend a dance class together to get a feel for the rhythm and steps before they’re thrown into the spotlight. After all, this is your first dance as a married couple so make it count!

Write Your Vows

If you plan on writing your vows, plan them out ahead of time. Make your vows short and sweet, yet personable. Also, don’t forget to practice a few times so you feel confident reciting them at the altar for everyone to hear! Your bride will be touched by the time and effort you put into it!

Plan Your Honeymoon

It’s time to take the reigns on the honeymoon. After all, your bride has so much to do already! Be sure to sit down with her beforehand to discuss where it is you’d like to go for your honeymoon, as well as a budget range, travel preferences, etc. You’ll also want to determine if you two want to leave right after the wedding or wait a few months after all the excitement has died down. Need a nudge in the right direction? Then, this article should help. And don’t forget to use a travel pro when you’re ready to start the process!
