After all the craziness of planning a wedding, you’ve certainly earned a little rest and relaxation! Here are 4 things to consider before booking the ultimate honeymoon:

Allow Yourself Time to Recoup

For years, newlyweds have departed for their honeymoons right away. But recently, we’ve noticed a growing trend in couples taking a few extra days to unwind, pack and rest after their wedding day (after all, the days that lead up to the wedding can be exhausting!). For example, it’s pretty common now for newlyweds to leave the Monday after their Saturday wedding. Some couples wait weeks, or even months before honeymooning giving themselves some extra time to rest up and re-charge.

Consider the Mini-Moon

By the time your showers, bachelor/bachelorette trips, and days before the actual wedding are said and done, your vacation time could very limited. This is where the mini-moon comes in! A mini-moon is perfect for couples who still want the honeymoon experience but have maxed out their vacation days. It’s also common to take a mini-moon if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option and can’t afford to take the week off. You can always plan something a little more extravagant later on when you’ve had time to replenish your wallets!

Seek Travel Assistance

Traditionally, the groom would surprise his new bride with a romantic getaway after the wedding and all she’d have to do is pack her bags. But who has time for the added stress and responsibility when you have a wedding to plan? I  recommend working with us on your budgeting, itinerary and travel arrangements so everyone’s on the same page. It also helps to have a travel expert on your side when you’re just too busy with the wedding and need someone to take care of all the arrangements for you!

Know When to Book

If you do plan on going on a honeymoon, you’ll want to make sure you are putting a deposit down at least 6-8 months beforehand. This will ensure that you and your spouse receive your first-choice hotel and destination, a honeymoon suite, and any other newlywed perks they may offer. Be aware of time limits for honeymoon packages. Often, you’ll need to travel within 3-6 months of your wedding to take advantage of those perks. Short on cash? Not a problem. Most resorts only require a small deposit to hold your reservation. We’ll keep you posted on these important details as well, so you’re never “left hanging” along the way!

So, whether you’re looking to go grand and elaborate, or quiet and simple, a honeymoon is always well-deserved after a long year of wedding activities! For more information on planning your romantic getaway, be sure to click here for a complimentary planning session!
